With the fashion for paler rosés, what to do with all our delicious juice from all the lightly pressed dark grapes after the clearer juice has all been run off to make our classic pale rosé? Well, we thought we'd make a darker rosé with it, that's what. And very good it is too, along the lines of a Clairet. That was a style of much lighter red than nowadays from Bordeaux, from which the word Claret came about, allegedly. This has the weight and texture of our classic rosé but with a bit more depth of flavour. It's dry, fruity and refreshing, and a little too easy to knock back. But its nothing like a fruit juice, so please don't think it's going to be in any way Ribera-like (much as we like Ribena).
The back label: "The dry rosé was made from pressing the juice from our Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. With more colour from the dark skins, it was cool fermented to preserve the flavours. It's a tasty deeper rosé that works well with good food or on its own."
