Our new Rosé & Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Our new Rosé & Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Posted by Gavin Quinney on 31st Mar 2025

The first shipment of our 2024 Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé arrived this morning in London City Bond and, as the sun’s coming out, it seems a good moment to launch them on our website. The wines will arrive with our importers in some countries like Switzerland this week as well.

Both wines, with or without the Rick Stein signature labels, are from our 25th full season at the helm and the best we’ve made since 2020.

Our 25th vintage

2023 (above) was our 25th harvest here, as we moved from London at the end of the summer of 1999 and ‘inherited’ the grapes on the vines as part of the deal, just before the crop had to come in. Daniel was already at Bauduc and Nelly joined us for the harvest as a trainee.

2024 saw us clock up 25 years so we’ve stuck a little stamp on the labels. You'll find images of our white and rosé harvest that year here and there's a few at the end of this email too.

2000 was our first full vintage and it was our Bordeaux blanc from that year which Rick Stein chose as a ‘Special Selection’ for his list at Padstow in Cornwall.

Only fitting then that as they celebrate 50 years at The Seafood Restaurant he should have Château Bauduc as his ‘official wine’ on his speaking tour around Britain this month. Toot toot! Over 10,000 people attended the shows in March at 11 venues across the UK. (How he still manages all that we don’t know.)

The new wines

Château Bauduc Sauvignon Blanc 2024

£13.25 a bottle in cases of 6

‘An aromatic, zesty Sauvignon Blanc so good that we stuck our name on it. Made by our friend Gavin Quinney at his Château in the Entre-Deux-Mers, where I think they make some of the finest Sauvignon.’ Rick Stein in his wine list at The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Sept 2024.

We think this is the best Sauvignon Blanc we’ve made since the 2019 and 2020. It’s a delicious dry white that’s crisp, refreshing and moreish, with a mouth-filling texture. At Bauduc we had a lovely summer after a very wet spring, and although this vintage will prove to be a mixed bag for the reds in Bordeaux (and the smallest crop overall since 1991) it’s a very good one for dry whites if this wine is anything to go by. Our yields were lower this year, meaning fewer bottles.

The back label: ‘This was our 25th vintage, as our first full season was in 2000. Our dry white from that year was chosen by Rick Stein as a ‘special selection’ so, as they celebrate 50 years at his famous Seafood Restaurant, our crisp Sauvignon Blanc has racked up 25 years there.’ 12.5% vol

Available with or without the Rick Stein signature label.

Château Bauduc Rosé 2024

£13.25 a bottle in cases of 6

Again, the best rosé we’ve made for some years. With the help of Mikaël Laizet, our consultant oenologist (sounds painful but isn’t) from Rolland Laboratory in Pomerol, our 2024 is a slightly paler, prettier pink in the glass than before yet we’ve kept all the flavour from our estate-grown grapes.

There are fewer bottles in 2024 after a lower yield and strict selection but the quality is there. It’s fresh and dry, with red fruits and good weight on the palate and a refreshing, crisp finish. More than just a summer guzzler, it works well with all sorts of food.

The back label: ‘Our 25th vintage. The house Rosé for Rick Stein for well over a decade, we picked our red grapes early (40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) and used just the free-run juice for this delicious, pale and dry wine, before pressing the skins.’ 12% vol.

Available with or without the Rick Stein signature label.

Château Bauduc Rosé 2024

Rick Stein Rosé 2024

Tricolore 2025 mixed case

£13.50 a bottle in a case of 6

The return of our popular three-colours case with two bottles each of our white, rosé and red. We think this is a terrific little case, made up by us at the château and in our handy, neat 6-pack, rather than a big post-safe box. Oh and the estate-grown, château-bottled wines are all really good.

Bauduc Collection 2025

£14.25 a bottle in a case of 6

A cracking collection of our signature wines, including our sparkling crémant, two dry whites, two reds and our rosé. A good way to try our wines.
